Our Story
From a young age Matt White was naturally gifted in art, design, and craftsmanship – even when he was making collectible teddy bears with his mom. Beginning in his teen years, apprenticeships with prominent companies that specialize in metalwork design and arts provided him with the knowledge and appreciation of historic architecture. In 1998, with just a few tools and a passion for high quality design, Matt began restoring decorative pieces. Just a few years later, he and his brother Jon opened Heritage Metalworks, an exclusive restoration shop. Matt became the company owner in 2021, together with his wife, Kim. As a key member of operations, development, and communication, she has supported his dream even before a business was established.
Today, Heritage Metalworks is a metal fabrication shop staffed with highly-skilled artists and craftspeople with decades of experience. A preferred partner of the nation’s most knowledgeable architects, designers, and general contractors, HMW has worked on everything from high-end homes to prestigious landmarks such as the Capital Building, Chrysler Museum, Valley Forge National Park, Winterthur Museum, and Fair Lane: Home of Clara & Henry Ford. With our three signature brands including Heritage Traditions Lighting, Scofield Lighting, & HMW Forge Hardware, and expertise in restoration, reproduction and custom metalwork, your possibilities are endless.
